Boo in Luleå Part 1

Boo (real name Kiyono) came for a 10 day visit from Japan, after Xmas. Due to one-handedness, not much typing here, but some pics.

Looking thru 1m thick ice hotel ice-blocks

The frames used to make the hotel. After snow compacted on top of the, they are slid out. If you want to recall last year's ice hotel pics click here.

Sunset or sunrise? Neither, actually.

Part of my favourite room, designed by some aussies actually.

Car window ice.

A less modern mode of transport - the spark (kick)

Sparks in action crossing the Tärendö river. We had received fantastic hospitality from Ida's family, who organised lots of activities and local foods for us. Only it is a pity I never got a photo of the family front -on.

Reindeer farm. Hmmm, tasty

For NYEve we went to the village of Lindås, just 12 stuga summer houses between Arieplog and Arvidsjaur with Kent from band, and partner Anna and Sarek. "Feel the serenity", without no mozzie zapper required. Quietude, BYO drinking water (and fetch dishwashing water from the river because the well freezes in winter), sauna, and lots of snow. It was great. There was of course electricity and tv, but neartly no mobile phone reception. At midnight we popped champagne and tried to listen to the sound of the occasional firework in the distance.
